Audio Visual Cable

How do I get my DVD player to work?

My TV is kinda old. The only connection it has in the back is for the cable. I have it hooked up to my cable box. The DVD player is plugged into the cable box with the cables with the three colors(red, white, and yellow) into the correct slots on each. Is there a way to make the picture come up using the cable box? There is no Audio/visual or auxiliary function button on my TV.

I have Cox digital cable if that helps anyone.

2 ways to do this. First, see if the Cable Box has the ability to switch inputs. You have the DVD hooked up to your cable box which is running into the TV via the F connection on the back of the TV. The Cable Box may be able to switch it's input to allow signal from the DVD to go to the TV.
2nd way...make sure the cable from Cox is going into the "input" of the Cable Box. The "Output" from the Cable Box goes to the "Antenna Input" of the DVD. The "TV Output" from the DVD goes to the back of the TV. Make sure the DVD is set to the same channel Output the Cable Box is set to and the TV is also there. Usually channel 3.
Good luck. FF
