Ceiling mount projector with computer hookup/controls on a desk?
Hi folks...I'm looking to write a grant for a ceiling mount projector for my classroom that has controls at desk-level somewhere in the room. Would I just get a long USB cable? What would I do about turning it on? Would I have to stand up on a chair? Any info is helpful! Thanks!
You'd use either a vga cable or hdmi if the projector and output device (the computer or a DVD) have them. Most projectors also have component cable (red green and blue). You can turn it on/off with the remote. You don't need to worry about getting sound to the projector because you'll need am amp and speakers for that (most come with a small built in speaker but you'll need more than that for a classroom).
Projector Screens
Before you buy a screen for your home theater be sure to put your projector through a projection calculator and measure the distance that your projector will be away from the screen. Be sure to put in the correct aspect ratio for example 16:9. For example a 45" x 80" screen is 45" high by 80" wide.
The diagonal measurement will be 92" which means the measurement from corner to corner of this screen. Your projector’s throw distance capabilities will determine the size of your screen based on how much distance that you have to work with. There are many different types of screens that include manual, electric, fixed. The most common aspect ratio's are 4:3 and 16:9. Manufacturers include Da-Lite, Draper and Elite. Electric screens can be operated with a remote or wired to a 3-way switch. Manual screens are pulled down by hand and fixed screens are hung flat on a wall surface.
Recessed screens are mounted inside the ceiling space and come out electronically through doors that are flush with the ceiling. Tripod screens are portable screens that can be easily transported from one place to another. Portable movie screens have cases that hold the screen and are pulled up from the floor. Outdoor movie screens are usually inflatable screens that are setup with an air compressor. Screens come in many different sizes that range for 40" x 40" all the way up to 24' x 24'. Fast fold screens come with a metal frame and a frame surface that snaps to the frame.
