How can I get my sony reciever off of stand by mode?

I've tried turning it off and back on it won't work. I had a small power surge the unit turn on for a moment then locks down in standy by mode. Any ideas besides turning it off?

many receivers have built in safety features that will prevent you from turning on the unit if there is a problem.. check that there is no shorts in the speaker wire as this is a common trouble that will shut down the receiver...

How do I open my Sony DVD remote for repairs (RMT-D152A)?

My remote isn't work and the circuit board / buttons probably just need to be cleaned. Unforturnately I can't figure out how to open it. I have tried new batteries.

First, LOOK INSIDE under the batteries for a small Philips head screw...if it isn't there then don't look any further....

NEXT, you need a very Thin Flat Blade Screwdriver.....

Around the OUTSIDE of the remote you will see a very thin seam between the TOP and Bottom of the plastic cases.....

You want to use the Thin Flat blade to get in between the two pieces and ROTATE the blade to pop the catches....you will have to do this to several places along one side and get enough unlatched to pry the ENTIRE remote apart....they are located on all sides....and sometimes I use toothpicks to stop the top/bottom halves from snapping together and RE-Latching....

And after you do this and clean the Black pads...you'll probably find it STILL doesn't work.....

Then you'll just get online and lookup the model number with the word REMOTE in Google and get the ORIGINAL remote control for a song and a dance.....
