Why won't my Windows Vista recognize my digital video camera with the S-video connection ?

I have a brand new computer with Windows Vista OS. Believe it or not, there is NO fire wire outlet on this computer. It does have an S video outlet, and when I plug it into my digital video camera, it doesn't recognize that it is there. The software that came with the computer says to plug it in with a firewire,..... but there isn't an outlet on there, for that ! ?? Can you tell me how to make the computer recognize the camera through an s-video cable ?

This isn't a problem with Vista, it's a problem with your computer. Your best bet is to add a firewire card, which will cost you about $30. One example is http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2431794&CatId=510

You can also go to the camera manufacturer's website and see if they have any software or drivers for Vista that you can download, but using a firewire connector will be a much better solution.

i have an HP pavilion dv6000 entertainment series laptop. ?

now i had just bought call of duty 4 for the pc. but the problem is when ever i play the game on either single player or multi player it is slow and really annoying. it is almost like there is so much lag. i can understand the slowness on multi but even when ever i do missions it is slow. now is there any way to improve this? also could it possible be my internet connection is bad or does internet only matter for multi? the only thing i really know about my laptop is that it has 3gig ram and a 250gig hard drive i am not so sure on the video card but it does have an intel core 2 duo. also the operating system is vista home premium.

HDTV antennas? Expensive indoor anteenas for digital converter box? What gives? Are we being scammed?

I find that the best way to recieve more and far away tv ch
annels is with simple wires strung around by the nearest windows. It is an "analog" reception we need to pick up. and the best ways are with very un-sophisticated antennas, especially home-made configurations. I will say that there is a lot of false hype about great antennas for the digital converter boxes. An HD signals is nothing more than a clear picture going into and being viewed on your tv set. HD-TV is a scam by definition. The smaller your tv, the clearer your picture will be. The larger the screen, the more difficult it is to get a good picture. Don't fall victum to the marketing ploys of a lot of marketing aimed at or so-called HD-Television. Just like radio stations claiming to broadcast in HD radio. Nothing could be further from the truth. A good stereo for your home or vehicle doesn't need to be expensive. My best digital results are with peices of wire, non-amplyfied. Don't waste your money.

My cheap kmart antenna still works great for my HD tv - including HD 1080i channels. If anyone isn't bright enough to at least connect it and see if it works before buying an overpriced amplified antenna - they deserve to be scammed.

Help! My teenagers are on vacation!! How do I connect a hdtv, dvd/vcr, receiver and hd satellite?

I have quality cables and am not sure how to put it together. I did it once before, but I could only watch a DVD with the stereo receiver sound, and I could only watch tv with the television speakers. I want to wire it right this time. Help!!!

There's lots of ways to do this... if you have a receiver, then everything should plug into it: the TV, dvd player, HD satellite, etc. The receiver should have several input jacks to handle all this equipment. The TV's output goes into the receiver's input. The satellite's output goes to the receiver's input, and so on. Look behind your receiver and you'll probably find all the jacks are labelled (DVD video in, DVD audio left in, DVD audio right in, etc, etc). Assuming the receiver also doubles as a radio, it should have speakers already hooked up. Select the mode option on the front of the receiver for whatever you want to watch, and it will process the sound automatically. Write back if you need more help.
