What type of cable do I need to get video from my HP laptop tp my HDTV?

I have some videos on my laptop (not on iTunes) that I would like to play on my TV. I have seen cables that hook up from the computer and go into the TV so that whatever is playing on the computer is on the TV at the same time. How do I do this?

Check your T.V. It may either have only an HTMI pots or both a VGA and HTMI port. If it only has an HTMI port you may need to get the HTMI cable. If you computer does not have an HTMI port, you may need to get get a VGA to HTMI cord.

The standard cables the Wii comes with has a poor picture quality. If your using an connecting Wii to HDTV then component cables are a must used in connection. Your amp might have a couple of component inputs and a component output so you just switch video output via the amp.

What Composite/phono plug (RCA) do i need to connect my laptop to my T.V.?

I read online that i can use such a cord, but i dont know the exact name. I want to know which one i need, if you could give me a radio shack link that would be great.
the only out put my laptop has is the to female out puts and the blue square in the middle, I have a older tv and laptop lol.

The best way to do it is to use an HDMI cable if your computer does not have HDMI out put you are only asking for trouble...there are other ways to do it but you will get flicker or only a black and white picture only or no sound or poor sound or the sound will not sink with the picture...there are ways to fix each of those problems but sometimes it leads to other problems, some people just give up, get a computer that has HDMI out put and you will be much better off..even then you may have some problems but at least then you will have a running start.

S-video - S-Video splits the video signal into two parts, one for color, and one for brightness.

Composite or RCA - Composite has color and brightness delivered over one cable.

<b>Which one is best?</b>

The easy answer to this question is the HDMI cable. With the ease of connecting just one cable you get the best quality in image and sound. HDMI cables have up to 5 Gbps of bandwidth, which is more than enough to carry uncompressed high definition video images and up to 8 channels of 24-bit high definition audio. This limits any affect on video or audio quality, since there is no converting of signals (digital to analog) or any compressed signals. And blu-ray players are all about achieving the highest quality of image and sound possible.

There are four main versions of HDMI that most hardware will have. They are: 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. All versions of HDMI has the capacity to carry HD video up to 1080p.

1.0 - First version of HDMI. Will decode most audio codecs found in DVDs and digital TV signals, as well as Dolby Digital and DTS.

1.1 - This version allowed for 5.1 channels audio, eliminating the need for 6 separate audio RCA cables.

1.2/1.2a - Allows for the use of Super Audio CD (SACD).

The drawback to the HDMI cable is the cost. HDMI cables can run anywhere from $20 to $150. Some argue there is no difference in HDMI cables, no matter what the cost. DVI may be another option for you, with this cable you should be able to get the best high definition, 1080p. However, other cables will be needed for audio. Your best option if purchasing a HDMI cable, is to find a modestly price HDMI cable and work your way up until you find the one that suits you best.

How do I connect stereo speakers to receiver for TV audio?

How can I connect basic stereo speakers to my receiver for TV audio? I have an older mitsubishi receiver. I have connected the speakers to the receiver and I've connected the TV to the receiver using input/output jacks using the video component jacks on the back of the receiver. I have the right component selected (Video/AUX) but I'm not getting sound from the speakers.

What could be wrong? How do I fix it?

Alright ,Tom let's get down to it. An older Mitsubishi is always a great unit. It should always work for you, so it must be a cable, or switch setting problem on the "M". OK, first the speaker setting on the "M". Which speaker terminals did you go into with your speaker wires, "A" or "B"?

Make sure the speaker terminals you went into in the back matches the speaker selection switch setting on front (A, B, Both, etc).

OK, now, your older "M" will not have "video" inputs on the back, and you don't bring audio into video inputs. (read your question again) Look at your TV. You must come out of the "Audio Out" RCA terminals of your TV, and, in an older stereo, you go into "audio in", or into "tape in" or "tape monitor input".

Then, if you go into the "tape in", or "tape monitor in" inputs from your TV, you must have the selector swich on your "M" set on "Tape", because your stereo will think your TV is a tape player.
